Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibility for screening, recruitment, training and licensing of treatment foster parents; coordinates, plans, and conducts pre-service and in-service training; works with DCYF to license foster families
- Schedule may involve working any day of the week so flexibility is necessary, however, the person is responsible for designing their own schedule. Typically will work 40-50 hours per week. The weekend hours worked will typically be 7 days per quarter while training new foster parents.
- Recruits foster families in diverse and creative ways (including open houses, ads, community presentations etc)
- Distributes program information and literature of the purpose of recruitment of foster parents
- Handles telephone and mail inquiries in regard to treatment foster parent openings
- Screens potential treatment foster parents
- Requests driving and criminal background checks and reviews references for potential foster parents
- Plans, coordinates and supervises pre-service and in-service training activities for treatment foster parents
- Licenses foster parents as per DCYF regulations and Boys Town Standards
- Prepares and submits reports and/or recommendations to the Treatment Foster Family Services Coordinator concerning selection of treatment foster parents
- Performs duties as assigned
Serves as a role model in carrying out the Boys Town mission.
Requirements:
- Knowledge acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree program in the social or behavioral sciences, or extensive knowledge of the Boys Town Family Home Program acquired from three to four years experience in its application, is preferred.
- Knowledge acquired from working in areas of recruiting, training, consultation, evaluation or administration would be desirable, along with experience in working with local and state agency personnel and foster care services.
- Must maintain high level of confidentiality.
- Must possess valid driver's license with a good driving record, plus ability to provide own transportation to complete travel requirements of job.
