Functional Description:
Provides administrative assistance in support of fair hearing process and/or coordination of client appeals. The assistant is a non-exempt paraprofessional who possesses basic knowledge of project management and administrative support concepts. Knowledge is normally acquired through on-the-job. Position is typically used as: developmental level for transition from simple administrative tasks to more professional levels; customer service, or administrative project management support. Incumbents are capable of performing a broad range of administrative or paraprofessional support tasks, referring to established policy and precedent. Work is generally done under immediate supervision and is closely monitored; tasks are typically routine and/or repetitive in nature.
REPRESENTATIVE PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
Coordinates the daily task as they apply to the fair hearing process.
Receives and reviews inquires from clients and coordinates responses.
Responds to Fair Hearing Officer’s telephone calls.
Assists TMHP staff in researching authorization issues as they relate to the fair hearing process.
Compiles data for analysis and reporting on fair hearing requests.
Responds to client request for data/assistance with the fair hearing process.
May prepares correspondence to inform clients and Fair Hearing Officers of findings and recommendations.
Assists senior staff in maintaining various records required to track costs and/or performance.
May assist senior staff in estimating materials, equipment, production costs, performance requirements and delivery schedules.
Performs routine office support tasks as necessary, including, but not limited to, maintaining hard copy and/or database files, sorting/distributing mail.
Other duties as assigned by Management.
Education and Typical Years Experience
Completion of High School or GED or equivalent related work experience; Associates degree in related field is preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of related experience in project support and/or management (e.g., project management concepts, practices, and procedures including basic accounting, claims processing, purchasing, contract administration, general administration, etc
Special Requirements
Knowledge of Medicaid/Manage Care. Strong working knowledge of MS office products. Knowledge of Medicaid programs a plus. Ability to research and resolve inquiries efficiently and timely.
Basic PC literacy and knowledge of project related database management and spreadsheet software.
