We seek an Associate Director to play a critical role driving growth for the Advisory Board’s H*Works business. In this entrepreneurial and highly consultative role, ADs combine their strategic knowledge of the healthcare industry with marketing abilities to structure strategic delivery engagements with major hospitals and health systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Associate Directors are primarily responsible for developing new H*Works partnerships through a consultative selling process that focuses on strategic and/or operational challenges within an organization.
  • Through on-site visits and presentations to CEOs and other senior-level decision-makers, Associate Directors attempt to understand major strategic objectives or operational inefficiencies of prospective clients and determine how H*Works can assist in solving complex business problems.
  • Associate Directors lead substance-driven discussions about the strategic and operational solutions offered through H*Works engagements and, thus, must possess a superior talent for communicating complex concepts and unlocking the H*Works value proposition.
  • Associate Directors work closely with National Practice Leaders to generate marketing strategies for key segments of H*Works product portfolio, drive product enhancement and refine product methodology through assessment of market trends and evolving research

Preferred Background and Attributes of Successful Candidates:

H*Works Associate Director candidates should possess a strategic and/or operational understanding of the health care industry gained from 5+ years of experience in the following settings: health care consulting, hospital management and/or strategic planning, business development or consultative sales. An advanced degree (especially MBA or MHA) is highly desired.

  • Passion for healthcare
  • Goal and solution orientation, drive and tenacity
  • Marketing and sales instincts
  • The ability to rapidly comprehend and adjust to the quickly changing landscape of health care consulting marketplace
  • Superior presentation and facilitation skills, including communication in formal speaking, group presentations, informal work sessions, and one-on-one discussions with senior executives.

The position requires 60-70% travel.
