Key to Sutter's business plan, the role of Sutter Health Information Technology is to make electronic data and communications available to Sutter Health employees, providers and patients to support the health and well-being of the community, enhance patient care and safety, and improve business processes and performance. Information Technology's (IT) key approaches to meet these needs consists of the Applications, Telecommunications, Project Management, Web, and Technology. We continue to review IT optimization across our affiliates, regions and entire enterprise. The Regional Data Security Officer (RDSO) is responsible for coordinating with affiliate organizations within their assigned region to implement and manage the Sutter Health security program under the direction of the Chief Data Security Officer (CDSO).

The RDSO functions as a liaison between affiliate organizations and the Sutter Health Data Security Office to ensure consistent implementation and ongoing support of the data security program and to facilitate close alignment between data security policies and business operations.

The RDSO acts as a resource to provide data security services such as risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, investigations and incident response to affiliate organizations in compliance with Data Security Office standards and guidelines.

The RDSO collaborates with Project Management and key business unit stakeholders to ensure data security is integrated into the System Development Lifecycle for IS projects.

The RDSO will collaborate with affiliate Compliance, Legal, Privacy, Human Resources, Information Systems and other personnel as appropriate in matters relevant to data security.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS

· Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering, or other related discipline. The equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

· Experience:
Eight years of experience in IT, with four years of management experience, preferably at a Director-level, including four years of experience with information security. CISSP and healthcare experience are preferred. Extensive experience managing security in a complex technical environment consisting of all levels of hardware platforms, WAN/MAN/LAN, Client-Server and Thin Client applications, Intranet/Extranet/Internet and Web is required.

· Knowledge:
The Regional Security Officer must function as a subject matter expert regarding security industry best practices and standards. The individual must maintain current knowledge on the latest risks and countermeasures in IT security, especially as it relates to networks. He/she must demonstrate sound understanding of the compliance and legal requirements for data confidentiality and integrity especially as related to patient information in a healthcare environment.

· Special Skills:
The position will require strong verbal and written communications skills. Incumbent must demonstrate the ability to effectively understand rapidly changing technologies, evaluate associated security vulnerabilities and risks and recommend mitigation strategies to appropriate management. He/she must possess a strong ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence. Demonstrated ability to work under stress in emergencies, and the flexibility to handle simultaneous high pressure demands. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Must give attention to detail and possess the ability to prioritize tasks so work is completed in an accurate, timely manner.

· Physical Requirements:
Requires travel and the ability to adapt to flexible work hours. Office environment.
