Provides leadership to the health care team by coordinating, directing and facilitating the overall care delivered to the patient. Implements patient care and directs other nursing personnel in the implements of that care.

Provides or directs the provision of the nursing care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and legal responsibilities as defined by the State Board of Nursing.

Participates in the development and implementation of the orientation process and overall development of the professional and nonprofessional nursing personnel on the nursing unit. Participates in goal development of the unit and is responsible for problem solving and decision making on the nursing unit, within his/her scope of practice and span of control.

Assesses the skill level and knowledge base of personnel under his/her supervision and delegates patient care assignments accordingly.

Assesses the need for and availability of resources to provide care for patients on the nursing unit.

Participates in cost containment strategies and appropriate equipment utilization. Makes recommendations for the acquisition of equipment and supply needs for patients and staff within the nursing unit.

Identifies and communicates to the Manager those areas in which improvements and change may be necessary. Acts as a change agent and is supportive and enthusiastic regarding needed changes on the nursing unit.

Knowledge in caring for all age groups-neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric clients. Promotes a positive image when dealing with customers, both internal and external, by demonstrating proficiency in public relations and customer service techniques

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Previous critical care experience preferred. Have knowledge and understanding of physical and emotional disease processes, clinical nursing skills and administration of medications. Current license to practice nursing in the state of Pennsylvania. Current CPR, ACLS, PALS, IV certification
