Our new Manager of Direct Channel / eCommerce is responsible for achieving new customer acquisition targets through the Virgin Mobile USA’s website (www.virginmobileusa.com) and telesales channels. You will manage product planning, offers, merchandising, promotions, forecasting, optimization and other conversion-driving tactics for the company's direct sales and ecommerce platforms.
The role compliments digital marketing activities and is accountable for optimizing online and cross-channel conversion rate in order to achieve the channel's new customer acquisition goals through:
- Product planning: managing ecommerce and telesales handset roadmap
- Offer management: pricing, airtime bundles, etc.
- Merchandising: manner in which handsets are presented in online storefront
- Promotions: developing and implementing short-term packaging and marketing initiatives
- Ecommerce optimization: maximize performance of the online shopping experience, including all steps within check-out process
Don’t think for a second the job isn’t without its challenges. The direct sales channel sits within the Marketing group, but has strong interdependencies and ties with other internal departments. The successful candidate needs to be outgoing and proactive in collaborating with other internal and external groups. VMU doesn't have branded retail stores, so our web presence really is the only branded storefront we present to the world. For prospects, the web is key not only in bringing high-value customers, but it also offers online research that drives a great deal of offline purchases.
To land this gig, come with 5+years web marketing and/or ecommerce experience. It would be helpful to have some background with Web Content management or offer management systems, and/or web analytics systems. Client-side ecommerce experience is preferred, but not required if extensive relevant agency background is there.
You should be an analytical thinker, quantitative, intellectually curious, driven to perform under specific sales targets, creative and flexible in business approaches. Prove you are adaptable to new targets, challenges, people and situations. Digital media savviness would be an asset, but is not required. Show us you are open to new ideas, how you are an effective friendly negotiator with both internal and external groups, and that you have an ability to time manage and multi-task.
