The Retail Parts Specialist is responsible for the sale of automotive parts and related merchandise in accordance with company standards. Responsible for providing legendary customer service to all customers by exhibiting the Advance “7-5-3”.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned, as necessary.
- Must understand and exhibit all of the “7” (Seven Characteristics) with regard to personal conduct and leadership.
- Must understand and execute to the “5” and the “3” of the Advance Leadership page and be able to communicate the principles of the leadership page to all Team Members.
- Consistently provides professional, courteous and prompt customer service to both retail and commercial customers, utilizing parts experience and knowledge to insure complete customer satisfaction.
- Utilizes a strong knowledge of automotive systems, categories of merchandise, warranties, and Company Policies to make recommendations and suggestions to customers to gain their confidence and business.
- Simple diagnostic ability required. Assists in training other Team Members in areas of parts knowledge as needed.
- Maintains rapport with current commercial customers in order to keep abreast of their needs.
- Assists Company Management in making sales calls, both in person and by telephone, to prospective customers to increase sales and customer flow.
- Marks and stores parts in stockroom according to prearranged system.
- Assists the Inventory Specialist in managing inventory and the appearance of Parts Department.
- Completes all required training materials, attends all scheduled company meetings, and meets or exceeds all assigned sales goals or quotas.
- Performs other assigned store duties that include, but are not limited to, stocking, cleaning, sales, customer service, cashiering, truck loading/unloading, delivering, and inventory management.
- Required to be available to work all hours the store is open, including nights and weekends. Will be scheduled based on business needs.
- Complies with all federal, state and local laws as well as with all Company policies and procedures.
- Immediately reports to Store Manager and/or Division Manager any violation of Company policies or procedures.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
While this job has no immediate supervisory responsibilities, it serves as a sales/knowledge/training resource for other store personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; a minimum of 8 years of prior automotive parts experience is preferred, demonstrate parts knowledge and have diagnostic ability to include: internal engine, suspension, brakes, electronic, exhaust, and all other related systems for an automobile.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must possess good verbal communications skills, including good salesmanship abilities. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Thorough understanding of automotive principles and the ability to diagnose problems and recommend solutions.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid driver's license and fleet safety certified. Must possess certifications demonstrating parts knowledge and experience. ASE Certification preferred - If not certified upon employment into this position, certification must be obtained within 12 months.
