RESPONSIBILITIES
Position Summary
The Global Finance function ensures that Visa Inc. meets all SEC filing requirements and manages the global infrastructure around financial processes, reporting and controls. It includes nine sub-functional groups: Controller's Office, Tax, Finance Operations, Treasury, Investor Relations, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Business Planning, and Client Incentives.
Job Scope
This is an individual contributor role responsible for identifying and resolving issues of moderate complexity. This position is at an intermediate professional level and requires strong execution and analytical abilities. This role works independently and receives minimal guidance.
Responsibilities
FP&A
- Provide finance support to one or more operating divisions of Visa Inc., including traditional budgeting and forecasting, month end close accuracy and enhanced financial/business reporting, business case development, pricing analysis, and business planning support.
- Establish and maintain relationships with the key personnel in the operating divisions and serve as a point of contact for all Finance issues.
- Acquire and maintain an understanding of the strategies, priorities and issues of the divisions supported.
- Coordinate, organize and execute moderately complex quantitative and qualitative financial analyses. Make recommendations based on findings.
- Collaborate with colleagues and management in a matrix organization structure.
- Act as a business partner by contributing new ideas and finding solutions to business challenges for divisions supported.
- Participate in the implementation of continuous improvement projects to increase efficiency of processes and or tools used by the finance organization.
Finance Ops
- Perform moderately complex analysis on Visa statistical data submitted by clients. Evaluate correlation among statistical data, identify trends, and summarize findings across client and products.
- Collect and reconcile card service fees.
- Prepare and track payment requests and verify performance against contract terms.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external clients.
- Conduct analysis and provide feedback for internal and external requests regarding statistical data and bankcard profit analysis data.
- Participate in the preparation of statistical reports for publication.
- Assist in internal, external and self-assessment audits.
- Compare Visa transactions reported by clients to Visa Net transactions and interact with clients to understand discrepancies.
Controller
- Analyze, interpret, record and report financial transactions.
- Research and document conclusions on accounting issues with appropriate references to relevant GAAP pronouncements.
- Document abnormalities/significant changes, take corrective action as appropriate, and report this information to management.
- Own components of the consolidated balance sheet/income statement, review and confirm consolidated balances during month-end closing and perform ongoing analytical review.
- Complete moderately complex account reconciliations and journal entries in support of the monthly close process.
- Interact with various levels of management within and outside of Finance and internal and external audit teams and participate in cross-functional projects.
General
- May participate in the development of finance policies, procedures and processes; may participate in global or region specific finance related projects.
REQUIREMENTS
General
- Bachelors/Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; Typically requires a minimum of 3-5 years work experience in finance or accounting
- Must be detail oriented self-starter, able to work well under pressure and accustomed to project work with tight deadlines.
- Good analytical and problem solving skills, with intellectual and analytical rigor.
- Sound project management skills and the ability to prioritize contributions to multiple projects and drive assignments to completion.
- Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic and flexible.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively across regional and/or functional lines.
- Must be bilingual English and Spanish, Portuguese a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe PDF.
- Ability to act as a finance consultant to customers, representing the Finance perspective while delivering top-quality customer service.
- Experience in budgeting and forecasting, month end close and process development.
- Additional experience with a complex financial system (e.g., Cognos, Oracle) is beneficial but not required.
Controller
- Ability to apply sound judgment in interpreting accounting guidance and the company's policy application.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and their application, demonstrated ability to apply in the business context and the ability to research and document technical accounting issues.
