We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us at our Elkton, VA facility as we drive transformational change in our S&E processes, systems and performance. You will report to the Director, S&E (Elkton) and will primarily have responsibility for thedevelopment and implementation of safety programs in support of our API and vaccine manufacturing operations. You will lead the site safety and industrial hygiene staff and collaborate closely with the site environmental manager to drive and lead a culture of EHS compliance and best practice.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop, implement and maintain safety compliance strategy and all tactical elements of the safety program supporting site operations.
- Partner with operating departments to integrate compliance with safety requirements and procedures into daily operations adn accept joint responsibility for achieving site, performance metrics.
- Establish employee involvement programs to drive continuous improvement in our injury and illness performance.
- Pro-actively identify and assure compliance with all safety regulatory requirements, corporate programs and local procedures through ongoing review of proceesses, facilities, and procedures.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of operating areas to assure conformance with federal, state, local and corporate safety requirements.
- Participate on global teams to share best practices on safety program management throughout the corporation.
- Serve as primary contact for safety regulatory agencies (federal, state, and local). Assess impact of emerging regulatory issues on site operations, interact appropriately with agencies to influence outcomes, and develop/implement action plans to assure continuing compliance as requirements change.
- Lead site safety and industrial hygiene staff and provide effective employee development and performance management for a team of subordinates.
Qualifications Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required. Concentrations in Safety, or Industrial Hygiene strongly preferred. Relevant professional certifications and/or Six Sigma Green belt a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years applied safety professional work experience in a pharmaceutical, chemical or manufacturing environment, coupled with 3 years in a position of safety program leadership.
- Excellent leadership, program management, project management, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated experience in developing facilities to meet OSHA VPP certification criteria or equivalent.
- Broad based knowledge of safety regulations.
- Customer focus-team building, proactive style.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven record interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Provenience in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint.
