Seeking Corporate Counsel, Marketing



Provide support to the Marketing Department with respect to all potential legal and advertising issues. Perform a generalized standards and practices and consumer facing role. Conduct regular review of all company products, advertising, materials and other collateral, including those in both tangible and electronic format. Provide support to the Legal Department with respect to all other legal matters which may contain marketing or advertising issues. Assist in protecting the organization’s legal interest in proprietary materials. Provide hands-on counsel to all levels of executive staff as it pertains to marketing materials.

  • Review all marketing, advertising, educational materials & other collateral developed or utilized for use and viewing by consumers.
  • Research & review case law & current trends in marketing and advertising law.
  • Assist with any litigation involving marketing & advertising issues.
  • Maintain and update marketing guidelines, and communicate same throughout company.
  • Attend company trainings to ensure consistency between marketing, products, trainings, and other materials.
  • Attend production filming of testimonials and footage intended for use in marketing materials, including television commercials to ensure compliance with company practices and applicable marketing and advertising laws, and provide on-site counsel.
  • Provide employee and independent contractor training in marketing and advertising related areas.
  • Assist in any due diligence matters which contemplate the transfer of company’s proprietary products and materials, at the request of the Assistant General Counsel.

Requirements

  • JD from an accredited U.S. law school. Licensed to practice law in at least one state jurisdiction.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong research and drafting skills.
  • Sound knowledge of: (i) marketing & advertising law including federal and state laws and applicable guidelines, (ii) intellectual property law, and (iii) competency in transaction skills pertaining to same.
  • General knowledge of international marketing and advertising laws and regulations, as applicable.
