General Manager
Advance Auto Parts Store Managers are the key position in our organization. Managers are responsible for operating a fast-paced retail operation that is focused on providing the absolute best in customer service. Duties include staffing, scheduling, training, merchandising and inventory management. Advance managers are expected to be leaders who have the capability of running a store as if it was their own, while maintaining company standards and generating a profit. Prior retail management and/or automotive experience, demonstrated parts knowledge preferred (but not necessary) as well as some retail sales experience.
Qualifications
- Must possess a High School diploma and/or GED
- Must be well mannered, neat in appearance and posses the ability to meet and deal with the public in an unbiased manner.
- Previous work record to show stability and performance results.
- Prior retail management and/or automotive experience, demonstrated parts knowledge preferred (but not necessary) as well as some retail sales experience.
- Should possess demonstrated leadership and management skills.
- Must submit to pre-employment drug testing (November 1, 1994) in accordance with the appropriate state provisions.
Major Responsibilities
- Must immediately report any violations of Company policies/ procedures to management and/or Divisional Manager.
- Must complete all required training manuals/ materials.
- Must attend all scheduled/ required Company meetings.
- Must meet all Assistant management essential functions. (See Assistant Manager Job Description)
- Must document (written) any noncompliance of Company policy or procedure by any employee within forty-eight (48) hours of the occurrence.
- Report immediately any legal action against the store or Company to the Division Manager.
- Must monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure maximum profitability.
- Hire, train and develop employees that ensure that the store is operated according to Company policy.
- Must maintain sales productivity for each store employee.
- Must maintain store appearance and merchandising standards.
- Must properly complete and submit all reports as required.
- Must review job descriptions with each new employee or each individual making a job change and to have the employee sigh the acknowledgement.
- Administer a formal, written employee performance appraisal when due.
- Administer annual appraisals with merit increase considerations one (1) year from the date of hire, promotion or demotion.
- Must ensure weekly staff/ store meetings are held.
