Career Specialist
The Career Specialist position is designed to implement an array of services including initiatives to assist the ongoing and changing needs of Kaplan University students to achieve career search success, measured by their advancement in the job search process.
Provide sophisticated guidance and higher level coaching services to students to enhance their career path development by supplying them with knowledge and resources that will enable them to ultimately secure a career opportunity consistent with their interests and goals
Collect numerical data on job search success rates, for graduating students including:
Compiling numerical data on employment trends in assigned programs
Tracking students who request posted job leads, gain interviews and are offered jobs from job postings from Career Resources
Represent Kaplan University at National professional association meetings
Create intra-departmental publications to promote career resources and respective schools of study for Kaplan
Work closely with program faculty, academic advisors and student services to enhance the overall quality of the academic program and the Kaplan experience for the students; contribute to Kaplan University projects as assigned.
Contribute ideas and overall support to other program career resources team members and department projects as assigned.
Experience:
Bachelors- Education/Business/Human Resources/Recuriting
1-2 years experience- Career services, recruitment, or other fields where one develops client-centered, goal-driven, commitment-based, career focused relationships.
MS Office: Power Point, Excel, Outloook, Access, Publisher
Presentation skills are a plus
Strong interpersonal communication skills that enable effective communications with students, subordinates, peers, superiors and business contacts
Ability to earn the trust and confidence of students and employers and protect the privacy of confidential information
Ability to efficiently accomplish tasks in a timely manner
Positive attitude
Broad knowledge of career fields and the job search process in order to provide Kaplan students a competitive edge in the job market
Effective use of problem-solving skills in creative and innovative ways that will improve and enhance the Career Services operation at Kaplan University

Ability to meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality.
3-5 years experience in career services, recruitment or related field.
