Software Engienering Manager to lead a team of Routing Engineers



Software Engineering Manager – Routing

Smart Edge Product Family
Location: San Jose

This role is responsible for leading and managing Routing projects for our Smart Edge product line. Coverage will include: multicast, unicast, IPv6, MPLS, L2VPN, & L3VPN.

Overview:

  • Manage and grow a team Routing software developers
  • Drive all IP Routing development efforts (Unicast, Multicast, & MPLS) to meet release dates and customer deliverables
  • Schedule and Manage day-to-day activities & deliverables for the Routing team; Smart Edge product line.
  • Work with peer Managers, Directors, and Executive Leadership on deliverables
  • Determine, Define, Drive, and Manage aggressive schedules/release dates
  • Resolve any issues that arise relating to the team or product
  • Make business decisions critical to our success in the market

Candidate Profile:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or related degree
  • 15+ years Software Engineering experience, with at least 7+ years experience in leadership of Routing projects/products.
  • Proven and "polished" people management abilities
  • Experience Managing 10+ developers
  • Strong understanding of the software development cycle milestones, as well as the roles and responsibilities of individuals and organizations
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
  • Experience with B-RAS functionalities, Edge Routing, Subscriber Management, Ethernet Aggregation - a big plus!
  • Proven track-record of delivering commercially successful software solutions
  • Domain and/or Technical understanding of Unicast/Multicast Routing and MPLS: PIM, IGMP, IS-IS, OSPF, BGP, IPv4, IPv6, MPLS, Layer 2 VPN, and Layer 3 VPN - and related technologies associated with IP Routing.
  • General understanding of Operating Systems fundamentals and embedded kernels; UNIX, NetBSD, or related OS
  • Strong written and verbal English skills are a must
