External Description: Valdez, Alaska -- Outstanding part-time opportunity for an anesthesiologist or CRNA looking to relocate to a community that offers tranquility, adventure and an unmatched quality of life. Approximately 20 hours per week. Primary function will be to provide anesthesia services at Providence Valdez Medical Center during scheduled surgical procedures and take call for emergent procedures. Base salary guarantee plus fair market compensation for each procedure. Considering our relatively low number of medical procedures each year, this is a perfect opportunity for someone seeking increased work/life balance (heavily tipped toward the life side). Various aspects of the position are flexible and terms of the compensation package negotiable.Providence Valdez Medical Center is licensed for 21 beds and has an active medical staff of four. Our remote critical access hospital on Prince William Sound offers physicians the opportunity to experience a quality rural community practice as well as Alaska in all its glory. Valdez is well off the beaten path, although we are connected by the road system to Fairbanks and Anchorage. Providence Valdez Medical Center's modern technology and excellent team of providers and support staff allow us to provide personal, compassionate care that is also clinically excellent.Valdez is known locally as the Switzerland of Alaska thanks to the towering peaks that frame the area. It is more widely known for its critical deep-water port where oil tankers pick up Alaska crude and supply ships bring goods bound for Interior Alaska. Valdez is also home to a major commercial fishing fleet. About 4,350 year-round residents keep this busy, beautiful place buzzing. Valdezans tend to spend their off time enjoying their stunningly beautiful, pristine ocean and alpine surroundings. Winter draws snow junkies for some of the best heli-skiing in the world, and those preferring a gentler pace have miles of outstanding cross country and snowshoeing trails.
