Position Profile Scripps Health was recently named #59 on Fortune Top 100 Companies to work for. Scripps Memorial La Jolla is a 300 bed facility with a Level 2 Trauma Center. As the first Magnet Hospital in San Diego, Scripps La Jolla strives to be the premier medical center for more than 80 years. On top of the Level II Trauma Center & 24 hour emergency services, Scripps La Jolla offers a wide range of medical and surgical services in intensive care, interventional cardiology & radiology, radiation oncology, cardiothoracic and orthopedic services, neurology, bariatric surgery, and women's health services.
The Dir, Health Information manages the organizational, administrative operations, and financial performance of the Health Information Services department (includes medical records and transcription). Plans and organizes department goals and objectives (short and long term), directly participates in budgetary planning, anticipates departmental and staff needs. Establishes and implements policies and procedures related to information management in accordance with accreditation and regulatory requirements. Serves as the primary liaison between physicians, administrators, finance, and external agencies for health information management services. *HJ
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) with current active status from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management or Business Administration; or 5 years demonstrated knowledge of total hospital systems including information data collection and management.
Strong demonstrated knowledge of hospital systems, and various healthcare requirements including mediolegal, reimbursement, and health record documentation. Three (3) years supervisory experience in medical record administration. Capable of gathering data and making sound, mature decisions. Highly developed written and verbal skills.
