Product Development Metallurgist – Welding Consumables Engineer

Our client, a manufacturer of high performance welding consumables for super alloy

applications, is adding a Product Development Metallurgist to their staff in a Southern State. The company is enjoying a major increase in sales volume due to new product introductions, new customers and expansion of the existing product lines.

The Product Development Welding Metallurgist is a key position in an R&D environment as the company ramps up its sales activity and market penetration. The main focus of the Product Development Metallurgist will be on their welding consumables product area including shielded metal arc electrodes, submerged arc fluxes and flux cored wire. Responsibilities will include design and introduction of new products and expansion of the reach of the current “sweet spot” of their existing product line up. This position is tailored for an accomplished metallurgist with strong product development experience and skills.

Additional responsibilities for the Product Development Metallurgist will include:

  • Specification of new raw material needs
  • Team with colleagues in a focused “Hands on” environment
  • Provide expert level support to the sales staff
  • Establish focused product development plans
  • Participate with manufacturing process development and fine tuning.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Welding Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of welding engineering experience
  • Prior welding consumables experience is needed
  • ISO 9001/AS9100 experience is a strong plus
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and team work skills
