Job Description:
VOLT Technical Resources is looking for an Experienced Sr. Unix Systems Administrator. This position reports to the IT Systems Manager and will perform Unix design and systems administration work in an exciting, fast-paced, 24x7, network-intensive Linux, Solaris 8/9, Oracle, and Windows-based heterogeneous environment. The Unix Systems Administrator will be responsible for hardware, software, OS, and networking support for the internal Debian Linux and Sun Solaris systems. Additional responsibilities include managing corporate network services such as DNS, BIND, DHCP, SMTP, Sendmail, Radius, and Kerberos. Also support the company's NAS and SAN storage infrastructure as well as internal IT applications such as CVS, IRC, backup/recovery, and systems monitoring. Evaluate, test, and deploy new systems and applications to support the needs of the company. Provide leadership and mentor other members of the Unix team. Job Requirements: Successful candidate must meet all of the following requirements:* Minimum 7 years of Unix system administration experience in an enterprise environment.* Strong experience with Linux (including Debian and Redhat)* Experience with Solaris 8/9* Strong hardware skills with X86 and Sun/Sparc platforms* Experience with Unix packaging systems (DEB, RPM, and SYSV) * Solid programming skills in Perl and Unix shells (sh, bash)* Experience with operating, and maintaining various security systems including Kerberos, SSH, TACACS, RADIUS* Experience in server hardening and security best practices to reduce risks and meet PCI compliance* Experience with DNS, BIND, DHCP with demonstrated ability to configure and fix as necessary* Experience administrating SMTP and Sendmail* Basic understanding of Windows XP/2000/2003 networking features, functionality, and administration (Windows/UNIX integration experience is a plus)* Accomplished troubleshooting skills* Experience with storage systems including JBODs and RAIDs (SAN and NAS is a plus)* Excellent written and oral communications skills with demonstrated commitment to producing high quality documentation* Ability to work well with others across many organizations including development, sales, marketing, finance, customer support, and field service* Strong time management skills and proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet all schedules* Professional demeanor and strong work ethic* Strong technical aptitude and a willingness to train and mentor others* Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service* Be available during off-hours and on-call rotations* Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or similar discipline (or equivalent work experience)DESIRED - Experience with any of the following is a big plus:* Windows system administration experience* Cisco router/switch/firewall knowledge* Programming skills in PHP, C, Postgres, autoconf, etc…* Database programming skills including SQL, PL/SQL, MS SQL* Oracle database networking or programming experience
