Insitu Overview : Insitu is a leading high-tech autonomous systems company driven by a culture of agility and systematic improvement. We currently produce and sell an ever growing fleet of Unmanned Aircraft Systems that are low-cost, long-endurance, and have low personnel requirements. As we continue our rapid growth in the UAS/UAV market we are looking for experienced talent to help us achieve our goal of maintaining the agile and innovative problem-solving capabilities we offer. We currently have a need for UAS Systems Engineers.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities : Act as the systems engineering representative to one or more design areas involved in the production of an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) which provides Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) services to the end-user. Provide support to various Integrated Product Teams (hardware, software) involved in the design and support of new and currently deployed UAS elements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical breath and an ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships in a cross functional area environment. Candidate will derive / allocate top-level systems requirements to appropriate subsystems or components. Candidate must be able to apply critical systems thinking and problem solving in a dynamic environment.
Knowledge - Skills & Abilities Required : Develop and validates requirements for communications, sensor, and / or avionics subsystems and related components. Provides guidance in system-level solutions and technical expertise in one or more design specialties related to RF systems (amplifiers, MMICs, up / down converters and multiplexors, receivers, etc.) in the VHF, UHF, and / or microwave spectrum. Must have experience in the following subject areas: - 3-5 years of systems engineering experience or high-level design combined with requirements development experience.
- Lead in the preparation of systems-, subsystem-, or component-level specifications.
- Lead formal design reviews.
- Write and analyze test plans, conduct design tests and evaluate test results.
- Prepare and maintain product documentation, including data sheets, instruction manuals, project notebooks, and design and test documentation.
Desired experience or training: - 3-5 years of chip-level, circuit-level, or subsystem-level design experience
- 3-5 years of avionics or communications experience
- Production of architectural artifacts and design alternatives (e.g., trade studies, analysis of alternatives, etc.).
- Demonstrate and document product and circuit robustness using computer simulations, conventional analysis and standard testing methodologies.
- Technical analysis & evaluation of large communication command and control (C2), data links (i.e., RF, SATCOM), or networks (e.g., telecommunications, Ethernet, IP-addressing, etc).
- Familiar with requirement management tools such as DOORS or Slate.
- Familiar with architecture tools such as IBM Rational System Architect, Rational Rose, or Rhapsody.
- Prior military service desired but not required.
- Ability to obtain a clearance if required.
