OR Technologist - Outpatient Surgery Center

Job Details:

The Operating Room Technologist is part of the Deer Valley Outpatient Surgery Center team. S/he is responsible for ability to perform surgical scrub duties; is knowledgeable of instrument names, proper handling techniques, and a variety of surgical procedures. S/he assists with direct patient care under the direct supervision of an RN. S/he assists with maintenance of the sterile field and physical environment following infection control guidelines.

A great opportunity to work collaboratively with a skilled medical team in supporting the interdisciplinary Plan of Care for patients undergoing outpatient surgery.

The newly designed Deer Valley Outpatient Surgery Center , due to open in early June, is a multi-specialty facility with four (4) fully-integrated operating rooms which will specialize in General, Orthopedic and ENT procedures.

· Prepares room in timely manner with all anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment for each individual procedure.

· Accurately completes operating room counts (instrument, sponges, and sharps); follows proper procedure in the event of an incorrect count; reports all discrepancies to circulator RN and surgeon and/or corrects immediately.

· Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after last case; organizes effectively for end-of-case clean up.

· Assists in other departmental areas, i.e., operating suites, instrument room, transporting and circulating duties, if not assigned to a surgical procedure.

Qualifications:

· Related formal vocational/specialized training in surgical technology

· Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) card required within 4 weeks from date of hire into this position.

Preferred qualifications: a graduate of an accredited school of surgical technologists and possess a current surgical technologist or operating room tech certification.
