SENIOR MANAGER/DIRECTOR, QUALITY ASSURANCE

Job Description:
Ancestry.com Inc. is seeking a highly technical Quality Assurance Manager interested in leading the testing and quality assurance effort for a family of embedded technologies. This position reports to the VP of Development. The Senior Manager/ Director of Quality Assurance leads multiple teams across several US, European, and Asian locations. This position could be based in either our Provo, Utah or San Francisco, California office.

Key Responsibilities / Performance Requirements:
  • Manage relationships with QA vendor with on-shore test leads and testers in India.
  • Manage and coordinate and drive all testing (whitebox and blackbox) efforts with development and program management.
  • You will be responsible for the testing automation strategy for user facing products.
  • Guide and mentor direct reports.
  • Define strategy for and manage the implementation of test infrastructure and automation.
  • Provide long term vision for quality and testing practices within the organization.
  • Produce status and progress reports in regards to quality state, resource allocation, and project progress.
  • You will be responsible for driving automation testing metrics.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure quality requirements are met.
Required Skills:
  • Familiar with software QA testing methodologies. Able to develop and implement new QA processes to ensure compliance with current testing requirements.
  • You have the ability to think and implement strategically and take ownership of the QA function.
  • You will be responsible for determining the appropriate QA investments for Ancestry.com.
  • Thorough knowledge of Internet standards (HTML, HTTP, CSS, CGI, etc.) and software usability practices.
  • At least 6-8 years of experience in quality assurance.
  • Strong people management skills. This person will need to be proficient at adapting to and working with a variety of personality types, and have the ability to form and maintain positive working relationships. Both interacting with, and directly and efficiently managing individuals and groups of people is a key component to success in this role.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage and motivate people in a high work volume environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of the development and implementation of test plans and test/use cases.
  • The ability to review departmental and project objectives, translate them into detailed tasks, and communicate them clearly to others. The ability to track and manage tasks from conception to implementation.
  • Forecasting and planning in the areas of title/projects, equipment and process requirements, resource requirements and planning.
  • Periodic and as necessary analysis and development of network and general QA processes.
  • Bachelors of Computer Science or equivalent experience.
