![]() Metal Worker Job Description Army National Guard Metal Workers provide the critical knowledge, expertise, and skills needed to repair and maintain nearly every aspect of military life, from roofs, air ducts, gutters, and vents to manufacturing custom parts. Metal Workers are primarily responsible for performing repairs and maintenance on watercraft and amphibious vehicle body components, radiators, fuel tanks, hulls, and accessories. The skills you learn as a Metal Worker will help prepare you for a future with civilian metal repair shops, auto repair shops, construction companies, pipeline companies, aircraft manufacturing plants, shipyards, and marine servicing companies. Earn while you learn Get paid to learn! In the Army National Guard, you will learn valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance. Job training for a Metal Worker consists of nine weeks of Basic Training, where you will learn basic Soldiering skills, and 13 weeks of Advanced Individual Training.
