Description
Assists in the preparation and dispensing of inpatient medication orders, prepares IV solutions under the supervision of the pharmacist, fills patient’s medication cassettes to the nursing units; processes credits; responsible for the accurate computer entry and processing of patient drug orders; training of trainees and pharmacy externs, and assists the pharmacists in performing various duties. Stocks the shelves in both the filling stations and IV room and lists those items that need to be ordered. Performs unit dosing of medications.
Qualifications
High School graduate. Currently enrolled or completion of some college courses, especially Chemistry and Biology. This individual must possess good communication skills, both written and verbal. Must understand the potential dangers involved with drugs and must demonstrate a level of maturity sufficient to safeguard the patients. Health care experience preferred. Additional languages. Basic computer skills. Visual acuity and color discrimination required.
