The Dispatch Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Dispatch department. The Dispatch Manager will maintain payroll, scheduling, discipline and praise for the employees in the department. It is expected that the person in this position will maintain oversight of the entire dispatch process. A successful Dispatch Manager will:

  1. Adopt TransCare’s STARCARE value system and use it in everyday decision making.
  2. Oversee a staff of roughly 10-15 members, operating an office functioning on a 24/7/365 basis.
  3. Create initiatives and procedures that maximize our ability to service our clients with the most efficiency possible.
  4. Work actively with other department managers, both giving and receiving feedback.
  5. Create, review and report on trends in various areas.
  6. Maintain a Policy and Procedure manual for the department.
  7. Create and maintain logs necessary to perform quick checks and assessments to ensure the highest quality.
  8. Promote education and training within the department.
  9. Respond to complaints with thoroughness and accuracy.
  10. Create and change dispatcher’s schedules as dictated by demand and performance.
  11. Continually monitor workloads throughout the department and actively pursue additional resource when justified.

The Dispatch Manager will be required to follow all TransCare policies and regulations at all times, including code of conduct.

Qualifications:

§ Minimum 3 years managing a comparable staff level

§ Excellent supervisory and administrative skills

§ Excellent analytical skills

§ Excellent verbal, written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

§ Ability to report detailed analysis of trends to aid in better decision making

§ Knowledge of the New York City area and its surrounding suburbs

§ Map reading and route planning

§ Ability to type 30 words per minute

§ Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office

§ Ability to make decisions under pressure

§ Ability to triage and redirect units based on priority

§ NYS EMT-D and AHA Provider CPR

§ EMD Certification
