 Sony PlayStation®: Manager of Corporate Communications Foster City, California Responsibilities: This position will manage the overall function of corporate communications and be responsible for supporting daily activities within the department. Specific responsibilities include: - Work with internal corporate communications team and with outside PR firms to develop corporate profiles, feature stories and trend stories on SCEA and PlayStation® products, especially in business media.
- Partner with other members of SCEA PR, including hardware, software and PSN teams to schedule product and strategy briefings with business press, analyst community and executives/product marketing.
- Maintain strong relationships with business press, high-level gaming press and industry analysts within the video game and interactive entertainment sectors.
- Leverage existing industry analyst relationships and establish new ones, keeping analysts up to date on SCEA company and product news; coordinate analyst interviews and events as necessary.
- Develop messaging and distribution plans for monthly NPD sales data to business press, analysts and industry gateway publications, with the goal of demonstrating momentum for PlayStation® products relative to competitors.
- Develop compelling written materials, including messaging and proof points for communications efforts, as well as press releases, media alerts, fact sheets and back grounders, all of which demonstrate a deep understanding of SCEA and PlayStation® products relative to the competition.
- Facilitate briefings between SCEA executives and media and/or analysts; provide counsel to executives on media and analyst relations strategy and effective message delivery.
- Manage agency on various Corporate Communications activities including plan development, media relations execution, trade show support, awards and speaking opportunities, etc. Work with agency to set and achieve measurable objectives for programs that demonstrate significant ROI.
- Provide onsite event support including product briefings, executive interviews, trade shows and other company or industry events.
- Pitch and secure SCEA spokes people for speaking opportunities in analyst and industry events.
- Develop presentations and/or messaging/talking points for events, interviews, etc.
Secondary job duties include: - Support the wider team from a Corporate Communications standpoint, knowing the ins and outs of our hardware and software products and services.
- Strong internal communications to ensure all appropriate parties (Marketing, executives, promotions, product development, agencies, etc.) are all up to speed on the activities planned or in process.
- Media list updating and management including changes as well as positioning and activity.
- Document development for a variety of Corporate Communications internal and external documents including, but not limited to, monthly media updates.
- Coordination of internal resources (3rd Party, product development, developer support) to disseminate appropriate and positive information to media and internally.
- Develop presentation and/or messaging/talking points for speaking opportunities, interviews, etc.
- Limited budget management for events, analyst research, etc.
Skills/Requirements: - PEOPLE: Ideal candidate will have exceptional people skills and excel at internal and external communications. Candidate will also need to have management skills to drive agency to reach desired and preset goals.
- PROCESS: Ideal candidate will be able to not only follow preset processes, but be able to start and engage the PR team with additional processes where necessary.
- TECHNICAL: Candidate will need to be technically proficient and able to understand, digest and communicate internally and externally the technical workings of all PlayStation platforms.
- PLANNING/ IMPLEMENTATION: Ideal candidate will need to draft strategic plans and be able to execute on those plans. Plans to include wider corporate communication/analyst relations effort as well as specific plans for individual events, opportunities, etc.
- INDUSTRY: Ideal candidate will have general knowledge of the industry, but direct gaming industry experience is a benefit, not a prerequisite for the position.
