POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Food Service Director and/or the Operations Manager, the Clinical Dietitian provides direct medical nutrition therapy for hospitalized patients. The Clinical Dietitian also organizes nutritional educational inservices as needed to peers and patients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Screens patients' nutritional state.
Age specific nutritional care.
Recommends a nutritional care plan.
Assesses nutrition status of patients.
Manages nutritional care plans.
Educates external customers, patients, and co-workers as needed.
Integrates data to provide medical nutrition therapy for patients with moderate medical conditions.
Promotes positive nutrition outcomes.
Assists in taking food orders based on patients diet.
Oversees office to ensure nutritional standards, training and inservice are in place.
Assists in matters involving quality assurance (i.e. menu, patient education materials, standards of care, hospital committees, patient satisfaction, rounding and tray assessment).
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:
REQUIRED: Four year accredited degree in food and nutrition and successful completion of experience through ADA accredited program. Licensed in State of Texas, Registered Dietitian licensure.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
PREFERRED: Registered Dietitian by American Dietetic Association.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:
PREFERRED: Minimum of one (1) year clinical experience in hospital setting; excellent computer skills.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to deal with employees, physicians, patients and visitors, to understand and follow oral and written English instructions, to maintain effective working relationship with fellow employees, to read, understand and communicate in English related to nutritional standards. Experience in demanding, fast paced environment. A professional appearance and demeanor is required.
