IT Security Manager
Job Description:
The Consolidated Information Technology Services (ConITS) contract, a program of Raytheon Information Solutions (RIS), is a high performing organization that plays a critical role in Information Security for the NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC). The Information Technology (IT) Security Manager will provide leadership and coordination for the contracts' information security program and information security operations. Areas of responsibility include security management for workstations, servers, networks, databases and application security. The IT Security Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and supporting technologies, programs, policies and strategies to protect LaRC and Raytheon information assets. This is a leadership role that requires a strong technical security background and knowledge.
Areas of responsibility include: - Workstation security management (virus prevention, IDS, desktop management tools, group policy enforcement, encryption, etc.),
- Server security management (Microsoft, Linux, UNIX and Apple Servers, e-mail, LDAP, web-based communications systems, IDS, etc.),
- Network security management (Remote Access Systems, VPN, firewall security, IDS).
- Application security (email and other business related applications) database systems security management (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.)
The IT Security Manager leads project teams, develops comprehensive project plans and participates on critical information technology planning initiatives to ensure that adequate security protection measures are incorporated into IT strategic plans. Proven staff leadership skills, thorough documentation and presentation skills, analytical and critical thinking skills, and the ability to identify needs and take initiative are key requirements of the position.
Required Skills: - Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline, or possess equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
- Must have a minimum of 8+ years progressive experience in information technology with experience in systems security management, security administration, systems audit and security compliance, network and server support.
- Must have working knowledge of Cisco switching and routing devices, various firewall products (Netscreen, PIX, Checkpoint), Microsoft Active Directory/Exchange, LDAP and network security management tools and utilities.

Must have working knowledge of all aspects of computer systems administration and enterprise architecture.
- Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with project and application development teams, management and clients.
- Must have experience in Information Assurance or IT Security in an engineering or scientific research environment.
- Must have proven project management and leadership skills and experience with a system development life cycle as it applies to information security.
- Must have a working understanding of information security concepts, protocols, industry best practices and strategies.
- Must have experience with industry regulatory requirements and working with internal and external audit staff is required.
- Must have experience developing policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
- Must have superior leadership, analytical, teamwork, organization and time management skills
Qualified applicants may be subject to a security investigation and must meet minimum qualifications for access to classified information. U.S. Citizenship required.
Desired Skills: - Should be able to achieve CISSP certification within six months of joining the team.
- ITIL certification.
