Description : Broadcom Corporation currently has an opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Applications Engineer to utilize their software, systems, and technical engineering skills to assist Broadcom's tier 1 customers develop FCoE and iSCSI drivers using Broadcom's industry leading family of NetXtreme II Converged Network Controllers (C-NIC).
Fundamentally, your role is to help secure customer design wins and help these customers bring their storage area network products to market rapidly and successfully. You will contribute directly to the success of the products and customers that you support through the following duties and responsibilities:
- Coding reference storage drivers - Documenting the storage functionality of NetXtreme II controllers - Explaining NetXtreme II storage architecture to Broadcom's OEMs - Analyzing customer requirements and recommending solutions to internal design teams - Assisting OEMs develop SAN solutions from architecture through production release - Participating in pre- and post-sales support via email, phone, and onsite customer visits - Debugging complex customer issues - Training customers and Field Applications Engineers
You will work directly with customers and internal groups at all levels of the design process (architecture, software development, marketing, and senior management) and must have good oral and written communication skills.
While most work will be performed at Broadcom offices, some work will be done on customer premises necessitating travel.
Job Requirements : Education: BS, MS, or post-graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering).
Experience: highly experienced, 5 to 15+ years in relevant fields with a strong track record of success.
You should have experience and/or knowledge in many of the following areas: Storage Technology - SCSI - iSCSI - Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE)
Networking Technology - Ethernet - TCP/IP - RDMA - Core Networking protocols (ARP, UDP, DHCP, ICMP, etc.)
Software Development - C, C++, or assembly language experience - Developing drivers for Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, or RTOS systems - Performance tuning of device drivers
Applications Engineering - Direct customer interaction and involvement - Project or time management skills - Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently - Ability to explain and train others on complex technology - Debugging of complicated problems or bugs - Hardware/software/firmware bring-up - Training of customers and/or FAEs
Architecture and Low Level Hardware/Software - Strong working knowledge of PCI, PCI-X, and PCI Express - Register level programming of complex devices - IBM PC system architecture experience - Use of protocol and logic analyzers
Communications - Excellent written and verbal skills - Fluency (conversational and/or technical) in foreign languages is a plus - Strong presentation skills are desired - Excellent team-work skills
