Business Analyst, requirement gathering, object oriented web applications and working with an agile



This position is for a business analyst with solid requirements gathering, business process re-engineering and documentation skills. The candidate must have experience with business analysis for an object oriented (OO) web application and working with an agile/scrum development team. They must also be familiar with UML and documenting use cases with a UML tool. The position will require the candidate to work closely with the internal users and management team, the FSP Rewrite technical team and other internal staff. The duties include, but are not limited to documenting the current system and gathering requirements specifications for new systems. The duties of the position will require the analyst to:

A. Organize, plan and hold requirements gathering work sessions with users and translate the results into use cases, activity diagrams, web-page mock-ups, and other documents to help explain and define the requirements of the new application.

B. Translates requirements into a high level product backlog and participates with the product owner and team to prioritize the development work and release plans.

C. Write clear and concise requirements specification documentation, (UML use cases and activity diagrams, Visio diagrams, Optimal Trace, Adobe Fireworks (GUI mock-ups), Enterprise Architect diagrams, etc…) which will be used in the development of the new suite of subsystems that make up the new FSP application, workflows, processes and Cognos reports.

D. Work with FSP Rewrite technical team and internal users to clarify documented requirements for new application and enhancements for the existing system as required.

E. Document all new development requirements using a combination of tools including MS Word, Excel, Visio, Optimal Trace, and Enterprise Architect a UML tool.

F. Perform analysis of the existing processes and procedures and make suggestions for process improvement.

G. Mentor and transfer knowledge gained to TEA employees.

H. Works closely with the TEA FSP Rewrite project manager, FSP Rewrite technical team and the School Finance users.

I. Report routinely on the progress of assigned tasks to the TEA FSP Rewrite project manager.

J. Must comply with TEA’s Project Management Offices processes and procedures.

K. All work assignments must be completed in accordance with TEA policy, procedures, and guidelines.

L. Assists in the development of testing plans and test scripts for user acceptance testing.

M. Assists and coordinates user acceptance testing and user training.

N. May also be required to perform test scripts for SCR and other enhancements of the existing system.

O. May create or update other State Funding specific documentation (procedures, user help, training materials, overviews, etc.) as required.

P. Other duties as assigned.
