Supervisor, Transaction Tax Compliance: TDS

Job Description

The Supervisor, Transaction Tax Compliance coordinates and reviews the transaction tax return filings and payments of TDS Corporate and TDS Telecom ensuring that all filings are in compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Managing the day-to-day relationships with transaction tax return compliance provider
• Coordinating and reviewing the preparation of annual reports and franchise (capital stock) tax returns generally submitted to the applicable Secretary of State offices
• Validating tax data in billing system and resolving problems associated with proper application of taxes and surcharges on customer bills
• Reviewing tax work papers and assisting accounting with reconciling tax accounts to ledger
• Coordinating and reviewing the preparation of property tax returns and tax payments
• Leading and/or consulting on process improvement projects or similar work

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or relevant program - OR- 4+ years equivalent combination of education and related professional work experience
• Six or more years progressively responsible state and local transaction taxes and transaction tax compliance experience
• Two or more years of people or project leadership, including motivating, developing and coaching employees and an understanding of project management methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience using Vertex tax calculation software, or similar tax calculation and tax research software

· Ability to improve effectiveness and efficiency by standardizing and streamlining processes and systems

· Ability to translate strategy into action with solid planning, execution and change management

· Demonstrated ability to get positive results through influence, persuasion, leadership, presentations, training, and group facilitation skills

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Previous experience with property taxes

· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Knowledge of telecommunications taxation a strong plus

Location and Travel

This position will be located at our TDS Corporate facility in Middleton , WI . There is minimal travel associated with this position.
