Job Description:
Schedule: 48 hours per two-week pay period, 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Job Summary: Spectrum Health consists of two acute care facilities with a combined capacity of over 1,000 inpatient beds. We also offer opportunities in our outpatient settings including offices, clinics, occupational health, Med Centers and Surgical Centers. This position is only available in the acute care setting.
Job Requirements: Michigan RN license. CPR certification or acquisition within 90 days of employment. Staff in this program are allowed 108 hours off per calendar year on weekends. Part time benefit eligibility.
Other: Time management and organizational skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of computers and their application preferred. Working knowledge of a variety of health care equipment. Ability to make quality, independent decisions. Ability to instruct and direct the work of others. 80% of time spent standing and/or walking. Ability to lift up to a 60 pound weight load. Very frequent lifting and bending, pushing and/or pulling loads. Able to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions.
Unit Profile: Spectrum Health Orthopaedic services have been nationally recognized for the past 2 years as a top 100 service. As West Michigan's largest health care facility, Spectrum Health recognizes the need to maintain a commitment to our total joint patients. In order to maintain this commitment, Spectrum Health will be opening a new surgical unit to facilitate this patient population. The Total Joint Center opened in March, 2005.
The Spectrum Health Total Joint Center features 32 beds. The RN's are responsible for working with joint replacement patients in providing comprehensive joint education and rehab for our patients. The RN works in collaboration with the orthopaedic surgeons, resident physicians, physical therapists, case managers, other RN's, nursing assistants and other professionals.
The guiding principle of this unit is to promote healthiness and to focus on wellness, motivation and independence. The goal is to return each patient to an active lifestyle, free of pain, as quickly as possible.
