Children's Medical Center Dallas, a Magnet designated facility, is the primary pediatric teaching facility for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Children's is the only academic hospital in North Texas dedicated exclusively to the comprehensive care of neonates and children from birth to age 18.

Children's is seeking Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNP) for the Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) services.

Description:

The NNP will care for the critically ill neonate requiring pre and post operative surgical intervention in a Level 3-4 Neonatal Critical Care setting which emphasizes family centered care.

The NNP Utilizes theories of psychosocial, developmental, educational, and nursing sciences to facilitate the delivery of comprehensive nursing care to neonatal patients. The NNP works interdependently with and independently of the multidisciplinary team. Major functional areas will include: practiltioner, consultant, eduator, and researcher.

Requirements:

Must be licensed (or eligible) as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas. Must be recognized (or eligible) as a NNP in the State of Texas. NNP graduates, as of January 2003, must be from an accredited program of study at the Master's degree level with a Neonatal Critical Care focus.

Current Health-care Provider BLS/CPR and NRP certification. Preferred minimum 2 years experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in a Level III NICU.

Requires 2-3 years experience as a Registered Nurse in a Level III -IV NICU. Full time position.
