Minimum 3 yrs experience with 3D modeling tools preferably Solid Works and Pro/Engineer.
Experience with designing mechanical platforms for networking equipment.
Working knowledge of ANSI Y 14.5 and MIL-STD-100D.
Working knowledge of NEBS GR-63 and GR-1089.
Strong knowledge of cooling schemes for electronic equipment.
Good understanding of materials, finishes, tooling, molds, casting, and assembly processes.
Working knowledge of shielding materials and applications for sound EMI designs.
Strong background with designs including sheet metal applications.


Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical packaging for networking equipment.
  • Design faceplates for blades.
  • Generate 3D models to create assemblies.
  • Create detailed 2D drawings for hard copy documentation of parts and assemblies.
  • Thermal analysis utilizing CFD software.
  • Creating an ECR (Engineering Change Request) for mechanical changes.
  • Frequent mousing and keyboarding
  • Frequent phone usage




  • BSME or equivalent experience.
  • Additional desired qualifications: (Ideal but not required; experience, background, skills.)
    Experience in Document Control, plastic castings, metal stampings, military COTS for rugged mechanical designs.
  • Experience with AutoCAD – familiar with release 14 or later.
  • Years of specific experience required: 5-7 years
