Responsibilities

QA Engineer

This is a QA Engineer position on the Norton Consumer Partner Services Team. The QAE will be focused on testing products and services for our OEM, ISP and Retail Partners.
This position will:
• Work closely with our OEM Partners to understand their hardware and understand their integration requirements.
• Interact with the Norton base-product teams and participate in the design, architecture and technology reviews to ensure that our Partner requirements can be met.

• Actively participate in the QA process to review requirements, create test cases and submit defects.
• Design and document detailed test cases to cover all levels of testing and requirements, including: functional, integration, regression, and system.
• Identify, log, track and certify software application problems on multiple products and supported platforms.
• Execute white box testing and participate in code review sessions aiming to identify potential issues.
• Provide accurate and timely estimates for QA timelines and effort.
• Execute test cases within negotiated deadlines.
• We need self-starters who will work closely with the development team to discover, report and validate fixes for issues.
• Assist software developers and others to understand and reproduce customer reported issues.
• Reviews and provides feedback on product specifications, feature designs and user-documentation.
• Understand major software testing issues, methods, tools, and software quality issues.
• Isolate defects and issues at the component level for more complete and useful defect reporting.
• Demonstrate a basic understanding of assigned products, use of services provided by the operating system, performance issues and optimization solutions, and potential problem areas.
• Identify and analyze defects and communicate them clearly.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• 2-4 yrs years of practical Software Quality Assurance Testing experience with Windows-based applications required.
• BS in Computer Science required or equivalent experience.
• Experience with test planning and/or test case development.
• Background in Quality Assurance methodologies.
• Experience testing on multiple Microsoft operating systems required (XP and Vista preferred).
• Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and analysis skills.
• Experience with black box testing techniques and methodologies.
• Experience with functional and regression testing.
• Ability to effectively multi-task different testing assignments and projects.
• Excellent communication skills, especially writing.
• Strict attention to detail.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision with set priorities.
• Ability to work under pressure with short-term deadlines.
• Ability to produce test results in a manner that is clear and concise to management and customers.
• Ability to work with a variety of technologies and third-party products.
• 1+ years software engineering experience.
• C/C++ experience on Windows platform.
• Windows technology development experience to include WIN32, STL, ATL, MFC, and multi-threaded application.
