Dietetic Technician, Registered Qualifications: Either option of the below may apply. 1. Current Dietetic Technician Registration through the Commission of the Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association required. 2. A person may perform duties for six months from the date he/she completed the supervised practice program for dietetic technicians, or until the person receives notice that he/she has failed the examination, which ever occurs first if all of the following conditions apply: A.) Performs under the direct and immediate supervision of a registered dietitian. B.) The person has completed the supervised practice program requirements. C.) The person has written verification, including the program director's original signature, that the person has completed the required supervised practice. D.) The person has applied to take the dietetic technician examination and is waiting for an examination date. Job Description: Under the direction of the registered dietitian, assists in the implementation or monitoring including providing nutritional and dietary counseling, conducting nutritional and dietary assessments. Assists in the care of the patients and communicates appropriate nutritional care data through the patient's medical record. Assists in the development, evaluation, and revision of the patient Nutrition Care Plan. Calculates special meal patterns, corrects patient menus. Trains staff members, prepares, and presents in-services to staff and students. Nutrition Care population includes: pediatrics, adolescents, and adults of all ages. |
