Applications Engineer - Embedded Systems
Job Description:
We are looking for an Embedded Systems Applications Engineer who has an understanding of digital embedded hardware & analog electronics. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in both disciplines. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with high energy & great technical breadth to enable our customers to deliver exciting user-interface products to the market.
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing technical collateral, a comprehensive set of characterized design examples, & developing/delivering extensive training programs for internal/external customers.
- Perform Characterization & Research of new designs of capacitive sensing schemes, capacitive sensors, & capacitive sensing ICs.
- Develop & perform modeling of new capacitive electrode sensor designs.
- Develop PC-based software tools for calculating & modeling of capacitance sensor electrodes for various media (PET, Polyimide, & FR4).
- Author Designs Rules (DR) for the capacitive sensors.
- Participate in the definition of new capacitive-based sensing ICs or ASICs.
- Design reference systems (Facesheet, Sensor, Embedded software) for our capacitive sensing products in embedded devices.
- Interface with PCB, Mechanical, and R&D designers to develop various development kits & characterization boards.
- Train FAEs/Designers & reps in new applications, products, & customer-specific knowledge
- Support FAEs/Designers with challenging technical problems in custom designs (on-site may be necessary)
- Author datasheets, trade magazine articles, white papers, application notes, & other related product support documentation.
- Meet internal & external customers & participate in effective technical discussions with them.
Responsibilities:
BSEE or equivalent (Masters preferred)
2 - 5 years of related experience.
Exposure to embedded systems design
Strong understanding of digital & analogue design theory
Board-level (PCB) design experience including experience in ESD protection, layout for noise immunity, & analog considerations.
Familiarity with PCB Layouts tools (Cadence Allegro, Mentor Graphics PADs, or other similar tools).
Experience with EDA Tools (HFSS/ANSOFT) for developing electromagnetic models of capacitive sensing schemes.
Proficient in C for embedded environments.
Proficient with MATLAB.
Excellent writing, communication, & presentation skills.
Willing to travel 10% internationally/domestically as needed.
