The Digital Design Specialist provides digital design leadership and direction of specific digital design technologies to assigned project teams and Digital Design Coordinators ensuring the project's digital information through coordination, quality control, education and adherence to digital design standards and guidelines. The DDS will work closely with the project digital design coordinator, senior team leads, particularly the project manager, technical coordinator, senior designer and the partner/studio/department lead. The DDS will possess specific digital design application knowledge and support capacity of which will be applied to assigned projects and research & development efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates specific firm-wide technologies, standards and guidelines with fellow Digital Design Specialists and Managers in the other offices on a consistent and regular basis; - Assists with the assignment of Project Digital Design Coordinators to their project teams; - Gathers vital statistics concerning specific projects in their home office; - Identifies and evaluates productivity gains to be made with specific customization; - Assists with the Digital Design quality assurance reviews at critical milestones of assigned projects; - Monitors and tracks team compliance with digital design standards and guidelines; - Monitors and tracks digital design deliverables quality; - Monitors and tracks project schedules and deadlines; - Participates in the weekly Project Digital Design Coordinator meeting; - Organizes and conducts as required training and education seminars; - Monitors and tracks project data to maintain the efficiency of server space use; - Ensures quality and content of design and construction documents; - Primary contact with specific application technical support; - Provides documentation as required; - Quality assurance of new digital design productivity tools; - Identifies and evaluates productivity gains to be made with customization; - Knows project schedules and deadlines; - Monitors project data to maintain the efficiency of server space use; - Fulfills selected qualifications and role(s) required of same grade for their given discipline.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of architectural or engineering degree program or graduate of four-year program, licensure optional but preferred; - Demonstrated general knowledge of architectural / engineering practices; - Demonstrated knowledge of architectural / engineering design, documentation, and detailing; - Demonstrated proficiency in public speaking, training and written communication; - Demonstrated skill in managing others; - Reliable and responsible, able to prioritize and manage own tasks and responsibilities and those for others in the Digital Design Group; - Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills; - Well organized and detail oriented; - Ability to work well in team environment.
SKILLS
- Excellent management and leadership skills; - Solid experience using Autodesk AutoCAD/ADT, 3D Studio, Buzzsaw and other core digital design applications; - Solid experience with Autodesk Revit Building , Structures and Systems, Combustion; - Solid experience with SOM Digital Design Standards and Guidelines or equivalent; - Experience with CATIA/Digital Project desirable; - Experience writing AutoCad Lisp, VBA or appropriate scripting languages; - Solid experience with project planning and tracking; - Solid experience with Microsoft applications especially MS Office, MS Project; - Solid experience with the operation of information technology systems.
