Ensures that new and existing technologies, such as the rollout of the ambulatory EMR and electronic prescribing lead to safer and more effective medication use for all patients in the assigned geographic or specialty area, including the following patient groups: Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics.

· Current therapeutic and pharmacologic knowledge of drug use.

· Current knowledge of drug information sources, retrieval methods, and communication methods.

Active participation and leadership in all medical informatics activities that support medication use; education of pharmacy students, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, healthcare colleagues, and administrators; and research on the core areas of medical informatics. Interact with other health care practitioners in a multidisciplinary environment. VA licenced Pharamcist required with some previous experience in IT preferred.
