Network Consulting Engineer, Routing and Switching Engineer

Summary: Individual will support Glow Network’s client as part of the client’s escalation team. The successful candidate must have Routing & Switching and Layer 1&2 subject matter expertise:

Education: BSEE or BSCS with emphasis in Telecommunications

MSEE or MSCS strongly preferred

Certifications: CCNP, CCIE Routing and Switching, written and practical, strongly preferred

Will consider equivalent skills with extensive experience on Cisco routers and switches

Work Experience: 2 to 10 plus years experience working with Cisco 7600 routers in telecommunication carrier service networks. Must demonstrate evidence of aptitude to learn new technologies.

Reports To: Client Escalation manager

Responsibilities: (Described as essential functions of the job):

o CCNP, CCIE ® or equivalent skills.

o Ability to analyze networking services requirements on 7600 routers

o In-depth knowledge of designing complex routing and switching networks

o Expertise with Cisco software features and functionality

o Experienced with configuring routing and switching devices in a service provider environment

o Comprehensive understanding of IP protocols

o Ability to conduct training and one to one mentoring concerning routing and switching technology

Working Conditions: Technical Office environment in various locations around the US

Physical and/or Special Requirements:

Candidate will provide Tier 2/3 support for Technical Services for Routing and Switching on Cisco 7600 routers while working in a service provider environment. (AS-RS-SME)

The candidate must demonstrate the typical skill set or capabilities of Cisco support engineers providing assistance to the Customer under this service:
