Job Description:

  • Responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS), MILSTAR Terminals, and Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) equipment located at Fort Greely , Alaska . This position is dual-tasked to serve as the Site Manager as well as the senior SATCOM maintenance technician.
  • Coordinate and respond to messages and reporting from interfacing organizations such as DISA and the network control centers.
  • Responsible for the overall management of the contractor operation that includes operating and maintaining two GSC-52 (V4) DSCS satellite terminals and associated HEMP power system and ancillary equipment, a FRC-181 (v)1 MILSTAR terminal, and the DRSN and directly associated subsystems (i.e. UMUXs, ISTs, and Fiber modems).
  • Manage all operations and maintenance personnel assigned to the site (15-20 people).
  • Responsible for all operations, maintenance, logistics, administration, communications, security and safety of all assigned personnel.
  • Report mission and equipment status to the Army’s 59th Sig BN CDR for all activities and mission support occurring at the station.
  • Responsible for all assigned activities at the site and will ensure all personnel follow approved Army, DISA and management operational directives.
  • Perform the site Quality Program by conducting work center quality evaluations.
  • Responsible for the site O&M training program.
  • Oversee the site COMSEC program.

Qualifications:

  • Successful candidates should have a Bachelors Degree and 8 years relevant professional experience; or commensurate training and experience.
  • 8 years experience with remote satellite tracking stations and understand satellite command and control elements and functions.
  • 8 years experience in communications-electronics operations and maintenance support and supervision. Experience should focus on Satellite Communications equipment, troubleshooting to card and component knowledge, supervision of communications-electronics technicians and customer service for the Department of Defense.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience in military SATCOM terminal work centers is highly desirable.
  • Experience leading SATCOM maintenance work centers of 15-20 people is highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting MILSATCOM at Army locations is highly desirable.
  • Experience with DRSN equipment is desirable.
  • Quality control experience is desirable.
  • Experience in Alaska is highly desirable.

This position requires the candidate to already possess an active Top Secret/SCI clearance and to maintain the clearance.
