Job Purpose:
Under general supervision, requests, receives and processes client data according to specifications of business analysts and consultants. Prepares statistical reports, makes recommendations, and participates in the analysis and interpretation of data as appropriate. Develops, maintains, and ensures quality control of databases and resultant reports, and may assist in the development and implementation of new processes and data reports.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Initiates client data requests as directed by consultants, and provides necessary follow-up with the client to ensure timely receipt of complete and accurate data files.
2. Receives client data files, validates data, and prepares data for conversion into Aspen’s SQL database.
3. Provides business analyst and/or consultant with key data elements for “number approval”. Identifies and informs business analyst and/or consultant of potential data issues that may be critical to the integrity of the subsequent data reports. Initiates appropriate follow up with client as necessary.
4. Assists business analysts with data analysis, report preparation, and supply cost file analysis as needed.
5. Generates standard statistical and analytical reports for consultants and clients using the Navigator system. Performs initial and final quality control assessment of reports prior to distribution.
6. Generates custom statistical and analytical reports as requested by consultants or clients, using Microsoft Access and SQL. Performs initial and final quality control assessment of reports prior to distribution.
7. Maintains detailed records of data contact(s) and data processing idiosyncrasies for each client.
8. Provides training to other staff members and develops training-related materials as necessary.
9. Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the Information Services department as necessary.
10. Assists with Aspen’s marketing plan. Participates in mailings and the development of mailing lists as necessary.
11. Performs other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Internal Responsibilities:
Adheres to all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to those identified within the Standards of Business Conduct and the Employee Handbook, as may be amended from time to time. Adheres to all applicable laws and regulations and the company's governance/compliance program.
Responsible for reporting violations of the company's policies and procedures, Standards of Business Conduct, governance program, laws and regulations through the company's Help Line or other mechanism that may be available at the time of the violation. Assists with internal control failure remediation efforts.
Becomes knowledgeable of internal control responsibilities through training and instruction. Responsible and accountable for internal control performance within their area of responsibility. Participates in the internal controls self-assessment process.
Ensures concerns with internal control design or performance and process changes that impact internal control execution are communicated to management.
Minimum Knowledge, Competencies & Qualifications:
1. One to two years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred but not required.
2. Is highly skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications, including but not limited to intermediate knowledge of the following Microsoft products: Access or SQL, Excel, and Outlook.
3. Experience and/or proficiency with Crystal Reports strongly preferred but not required.
4. Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills and is detail-oriented.
5. Able to communicate professionally, effectively and courteously, both orally and in writing.
6. Able to prioritize workload and work effectively with minimal supervision.
7. Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD9 codes, CPT codes, and DRG codes helpful but not required.
