Position Description: Scholastic Book Fairs works with schools across the country to host more than 120,000 annual reading events, connecting more than 55 million children with great books each year. Book Fairs foster enthusiasm for reading, while helping to build school and classroom libraries by providing students, teachers and parents access to thousands of books and educational products at affordable prices. We are looking for a Human Resources Coordinator to: Support the HRM by coordinating the administrative activities of HR support team and provide back-up support for that position when needed. Partner with HRM to monitor employee-relations issues and assist in implementing programs that will create a positive organizational culture. In partnership with the HRM, coordinate all recruitment activities, interviewing, staffing and termination processes and procedures. Utilize external and internal recruitment methods to insure that open positions are filled in a timely manner. With the approval of the HRM and in accordance with regional budgets, facilitate the placement of want ads and job postings. Assist in evaluating Human Resources contribution to organizational effectiveness, implementation and evaluation activities with respect to the organizational measurement in HR objectives, by conducting surveys and feedback sessions designed to assess our on-boarding process and the pulse of the overall morale of the facility. Review all new hire paperwork and insure all appropriate background investigations, drug testing, and/or reference checks are completed, where applicable. Establish and maintain databases to include but not limited to tracking: Job Openings Referral Program Applicant resumes/applications OFCCP mandated tracking Facilitate and/or conduct the orientation/on-boarding process for new associates. Support HRM with corporate policy/plan rollout, communication and implementation within the region. Support, administer and communicate the company's benefits programs. Monitor payroll administration to assure consistency throughout the region, and compliance with the company. Assist in monitoring the safety program within the region, and lead the region's workers compensation administration. Issue and maintain records of security badge usage within the regional facility. Evaluate selection and employment processes for effectiveness. Support Scholastic's commitment to EEOC/Human Rights, and insure that all state and federal employment laws are followed throughout the region. Support the HRM to implement and evaluate a training and development program and timeline for the current staff. Work with HRM to co-facilitate management and associate training. In absence of HRM, serve as HR contact for the regions associates. Travel to remote branch locations as necessary. Other assignments as identified by the HRM and GM. Qualifications: BA/BS Degree preferred or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 2 years experience working in a fast-paced, constantly evolving HR Dept. with generalist experience. Problem solving skills. Must read, write and speak English clearly. Professional appearance, attitude, demeanor. Customer service orientation. Willing to stay current on all federal and state labor laws, EEOC, OSHA, and DOT regulations. Creative approach to recruiting and retention. Valid driver's license and clear MVR. Basic math skills.
