5 Anatomic Pathology Director of Laboratory Operations Needed asap for Boston or Scottsdale location – Health Care/Biotech

Job Description:

The Director of Laboratory Operations will be responsible for executing and implementing strategic goals and objectives for the operational team for a growing ANATOMIC pathology laboratory. This individual will lead, direct, and plan daily workflow activities for laboratory operations management and staff members. The environment is growth-oriented and dynamic, supporting both new business line launches & additional sites during this year. Responsibilities include:

· Lead a high performance technical and support team under the direction of the Vice President of Laboratory Operations.

· Actively collaborate with pathologists, clinical support, sales and customer service, as well as histology operations personnel achieve operational excellence

· Manage daily operations and supervisory personnel of three shift and multi-site workforce with oversight of Histology and Cytology laboratory personnel –50 EMPLOYEES

· Maintain established performance and production standards; propose continual process improvement for efficiency and quality.

· Regularly review and update procedures and manuals to ensure employees have current information necessary to accurately perform tests and procedures.

· Provide leadership, drive change, and exceed daily turn around time metrics and service goals.

· Develop and monitor operating procedures and, where necessary, implement changes in workflow to improve productivity. Proven ability to optimize use of anatomic pathology software application.

· Direct supervision of transcription, order entry and report production pool, as well as quality assurance and logistical services personnel (exempt and non-exempt employees).

· Ensure laboratory is continually prepared, ready at all times, for Inspections

Education and Experience based requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Medical Technology, Histology or related science is preferred.
  • 10 years of effective clinical or anatomic laboratory operations leadership for this position.

Candidates should be comfortable taking a hands-on approach and should be able to thrive in a position that will experience high visibility in a growth oriented environment. Further, candidates must posses the ability to proactively problem solve and manage projects that require a strong attention to detail.

This is a fulltime position reporting to the Vice President of Laboratory Operations and requires at least 40 work hours per week during our normal business hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. There is some overtime, but generally scheduled in advance. Business casual dress is required.
