Medical Assistant Clinical Back Office



Pleasant Dermatology Practice seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated medical assistant to join our team. Experience in dermatology a plus. This position involves working in "the back" assisting doctors during exams and surgical procedures. Full time, health and dental benefits and 401(K).

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Clinic Assistant

DEPARTMENT: Back Office

REPORTS TO: Clinical Supervisor

Job Summary: Provides chair-side doctor assistance and administers treatment ordered by the doctor. Prepares exam rooms, escorts patients to room, and prepares them for doctor. Assists in patient education regarding medications and what to expect after treatment or surgery.

Education and Experience:

  1. High school diploma and Associates.
  2. Two-years experience as clinic assistant.

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of medical and skin care terminology.
  2. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  3. Ability to work as a team member.
  4. Ability to write medical prescriptions.
  5. Well-organized with attention to detail.
  6. Empathetic with patients needs and concerns.
  7. Treats patients and co-workers with respect.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Chair-Side Assistance

· Ensures proper charting; act as scribe for physician.

· Sets up proper instrumentation.

· Assists in minor surgery and laser procedures.

· Formulates and obtains proper informed consents.

· Escorts patients to front desk after exam.

2. Patient Education

· Reviews proper use of medications with patients.

· Answers patient questions about what they should anticipate after surgery or treatment.

3. Administrative

· Cleans and restocks all treatment rooms between patients, including cleaning sinks and equipment.

· Checks that all equipment is where it belongs.

· At the end of the day, turns off power to all equipment and covers equipment as needed.
