Analytical Instrumentation Sales & Marketing Technical Support



Hitachi High Technologies America, Inc. (HTA), an innovator in the field of scientific instrumentation, has one (1) opening for a qualified Senior Staff Scientist/Laboratory Manager. This position is located in our Dallas, TX office.

DESCRIPTION TEXT:

The Senior Staff Scientist is responsible for developing chromatography methods and applications, in support of LSG sales and marketing initiatives, to enable the company to meet customers’ needs and achieve sales plans. The primary products will include HPLC, LCMS, and Amino Acid Analyzers. Communication with customers, internal personnel, foreign parties, and vendors to ensure effective support of the company’s product lines is critical. This position also serves as the LSG Laboratory Manager facilitating and implementing policy for laboratory safety, procedures, and chemical hygiene.

Specific responsibilities will include developing related methods/applications, authoring marketing collateral, pre-sales support, product customer support, technical seminars, and managing the daily laboratory operations. The Sr. Scientist will work closely with Product Marketing Management on defining applications for product strategies and roadmaps for specific product lines. The Sr. Scientist will communicate and work with the sales team to promote and demonstrate products to potential customers. Must attend and participate in conferences, exhibitions, and industry shows. Travel is required with some international travel.

Excellent communication skills in English, demonstrated Chromatography and Analytical Chemistry technical prowess, and extensive knowledge in laboratory practices are required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Develop application notes (marketing collateral) for the appropriate product line.

· Manage Laboratory Safety/Chemical Hygiene policy and procedures.

· Generate technical data for advertising, proof statements, journal publications and other types of documentation.

· Review and edit marketing documents and other written documents/reports for technical accuracy.

· Provide sales staff with technical information in order to help them respond to customer issues and question.

· Deliver compelling product presentations.

· Conduct technical product training on instruments and applications for internal staff and customers.

· Review customer application needs with sales staff.

· Serve in a technical support role during sales calls.

· Facilitate and support early adopter product sites.

· Researching, evaluating, and recommending new generation products, features, and specifications.

· Resolving technical product line issues and problems.

· Developing and reviewing product data sheets and other product literature for distribution to sales and marketing personnel and customers.

· Conducting competitive analysis studies with regards to instrument performance and capabilities.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

· BS / BA Chemistry, Biochemistry or equivalent related field required.

· Graduate Degree in Analytical Chemistry preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Four (4) or more years experience in HPLC applications and instrumentation.
  • Five (5) or more years experience in analytical chemistry/instrumentation

· Strong presentation skills.

· Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

· Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to work with others.

· Organizational, analytical, problem solving and customer relation skills.

· Ability to conduct both Domestic and International overnight travel.
