Packaging Development Engineer - R&D: DPT Laboratories
You will p lan, coordinate & conduct R&D Package Engineering Studies and draw conclusions from collected data. You will be expected to create or oversee project packaging modules and primary container closure specifications. In addition, you will assist in conducting research projects – with an emphasis on identifying and developing primary packaging for oral, nasal, and topical / skin care formulations for contract customers. These products would include semi-solid and liquid dosage forms such as creams, lotions, ointments, gels, suspensions, solutions and aerosols.
Accountabilities 1. Apply basic knowledge of principles/theories and concepts to develop solutions to technical problems of limited scope on material and filling of primary packaging container. 2. In close contact with various components suppliers to gain samples with short lead time to perform form-fit-function tests as well as dimensional analysis. 3. Plan, coordinate, and conduct Engineering Studies as well as informal stability studies to develop prototype packaging systems. 4. Design experiments, record, evaluate, analyze and interpret experimental data, and write reports and provide information to others. 5. Assist Quality department on qualification of packaging component vendors, assist in customer’s complaint investigation, Out-of-Specifications (OOS) component investigation, and resolving rejected component issues. 6. Maintain a level of scientific knowledge in assigned area; perform scientific literature searches and evaluations as required and understand/comply with accepted laboratory and safety procedures. 7. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Basic Qualifications 1. Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from four-year College or University is required. Mechanical or Industrial Engineer degree is preferred. 2. Minimum two to five years of related experience is required. 3. Engineering experience in Pharmaceutical industry experience is preferred. 4. Be familiar with MS Office, Lotus Notes, and Statistical analysis software (JMP) and graphical software applications.
