SUMMARY
Responsible for providing expert guidance to internal and external clients of Alliant's employee benefits division by conducting technical compliance research and drafting summary responses to issues affecting the complex regulatory compliance of employee benefits plans.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Researches complex compliance issues using agreed sources; provides concise timely technical responses citing appropriate source material;
Collaborates in monitoring and reviewing regulatory and legislative changes, as well as preparing appropriate responses to regulatory changes under the guidance of legal counsel; Oversees review to ensure appropriate changes are implemented;
Stays abreast of industry trends and recommends/implements changes to internal company processes, as needed;
Identifies issues that require legal interpretation and obtains formal advise from legal counsel;
Documents all issues and responses according to established business protocol;
Conducts business travel as needed formeetings, projects and programs;
Keeps up to date on federal benefits legislation/regulations including ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, Cafeteria Plans, Form 5500 filing/disclosure requirements and FMLA;
May present compliance guidance directly to external clients through participation in offsite meetings, or through presenting of formal compliance training programs;
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;
5+ years experience in the employee benefits/insurance industry, and 3+ years working with insurance products/contracts preferred;
Life and disability license preferred

SKILLS
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Good problem solving and time management skills
Ability to work within a team and to foster teamwork
Ability to prioritize work for multipleprojects and deadlines
Good planning, organizational and prioritization skills
