JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Under the direction of the Manager, R&D, MV Drives, the Senior Design Engineer encompasses the design and analysis of parts, components, assemblies, subassemblies and systems, and the production of associated drawings and instructions. The Senior Design Engineer conducts complex analyses and develops recommendations based on sound engineering practices and business considerations. Serves as consultant to management and customers regarding advanced technical studies, their potential application and the resolution of complex problems. Manages and coordinates major engineering projects of substantial impact to the company. Proactively develops and implements measures to improve operations and customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Electrical Engineering (Control Hardware) – Primary Responsibility
• Expertise in analysis and design of control and signal conditioning circuits using analog, digital and mixed signal electronic components, for power conversion equipment
• Expertise in designing microprocessors and DSP based controllers for industrial and/or power conversion equipment
• Behavior level knowledge of electronic devices like microprocessors, DSPs, memory devices, Op Amps, A/D and D/A converters
• Detailed knowledge of FPGA technology and in designing FPGA based digital systems using VHDL
• Expertise in developing simulation models in SPICE or similar programs
• Expertise in circuit capture and PCB layout programs
• Expertise in conducting EMC experiments and in EMC mitigation techniques
• Expertise in the system-level integration of multiple PCBs for power conversion equipment, such as AC drives or UPS products
Electrical Engineering (Power Circuits)
• Expertise in analysis and design of power conversion circuits and equipment using active power
• Understanding and design experience of power circuit topologies for inverters, DC/DC converters, IGBT and other semi-conductor circuits, transformers and inductors.
• Expertise in conducting EMC experiments and in EMC mitigation techniques
• Proficiency in UL and IEC agency requirements and approval procedures
• Expertise in utility interaction of power conversion equipments regarding power factor correction, harmonic mitigation etc.
• Expertise in developing simulation models in SPICE or similar programs
Electrical Engineering (Control and Software)
• Expertise in analysis, design and implementation of control algorithms suitable for power conversion circuits.
• Experience in design of SW architecture, user interfaces, communication systems and documentation and version control for embedded controllers for the power conversion equipment
• Knowledge of digital communication systems (field buses Etc)
