The Landmarks Association of St. Louis works to ''preserve, enhance and promote St. Louis' architectural heritage and to encourage sound planning and good contemporary design.'' Founded in 1959, Landmarks is the region's most respected authority and voice for historic preservation. We are seeking a successor to our long-time executive director who is retiring this fall. This is an exciting period of organizational expansion as we launch a new Architecture St. Louis education center in downtown St. Louis. We seek a creative and energetic Executive Director/CEO to build upon past accomplishments and provide the vision and leadership for expanded educational programming and advocacy. The Executive Director: Leads and oversees Landmarks' preservation and city planning advocacy and educational programs. Is responsible for all aspects of day-to-day operations including oversight of a small professional staff and volunteers. Serves as the organization's chief fundraiser. Cultivates and develops working relationships with government agencies and non-profit partners. Serves as the main spokesperson for Landmarks. Is responsible for successful completion of the capital campaign and implementation of the strategic plan for ''Architecture St. Louis''. Creates and adheres to the operating and capital budgets as approved by the Board. Responsible for increasing earned revenue, membership base and contributions. Minimum Requirements: Five to seven years non-profit experience gained in progressively more responsible positions or three years of executive management experience in a non-profit organization. Professional experience in historical and architectural preservation work or related field. Degree in historic preservation, history, planning, business, arts management or related field. Advanced degree preferred. Knowledge of federal, state and/or local preservation programs and issues. Excellent communication and advocacy skills. Ability to work effectively with wide range of stakeholders. Demonstrated ability with current software applications and communication technology, experience with website management. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with board members, public agencies and volunteers.
