Job Description
The position functions as a fiduciary for and on behalf of the Stockholders of Airgas as well as for the Regional Company and requires a highly skilled accounting professional with superior managerial capabilities and experience, solid accounting and analytical skills, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills. The position requires the ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of the organization.
The primary responsibilities of the position include all elements leading to the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial reporting as well as analysis of the data. Under the direction of the CFO, the position will have direct responsibility of all matters connected with the Company's financial reporting processes. All elements of the job must meet or exceed established and published professional accounting practices (Generally Accepted Accounting Principals) and governmental regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Selects, leads, directs and manages subordinate teams including the accounting, payroll, cash applications, and accounts payable.departments.
2. Directs and oversees all accounting processes leading to the close of the general ledger and the financial reporting process to NCN Management, and Corporate.
3. Control and oversight of all general ledger transactional processes, general ledger account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, inventory reconciliations, and analysis.
4. Development, implementation, and measurement of internal control processes that meet/exceed Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
5. Management of all internal and external audit activities including preparation, presentation, consultation, and review.
6. Develops, implements, directs, and measures the goals, projects, policies, procedures, methods, and controls as established by Airgas management or by the regional company
7.Reviews and audit of Sales & Use Tax returns managed by the Assistant Controller, including the follow up with the Admin department on compliance and collection of customer documentation, CU system updates, and CU reporting.
8.Coordinates with other departments concerning compliance with Airgas Gases and Hardgoods Inventory Control Policies and Procedures, including audit, reserve adjustments, valuations, cycle counts, annual physical, and dock stock counts
9. Develops, implements, and measures branch/plant control processes, to insure policies are in place to safe guard all NCN Assets.
10. Provides management with routine and adhoc financial reporting aiding in the analysis of operations for decision-making purposes.
11. Develops professional growth opportunities for subordinate staff including training activities and career development opportunities.
12. Keeps accounting knowledge current and maintains integrity of the financial records and reporting requirement of the region
13. Responds to requests for information.
OTHER DUTIES:
1. Participates in the development of the annual budget.
2. Prepare acquisition analysis and integration as needed
3. Works with human resources personnel to effectively handle staffing and employee relations issues
4. Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from four-year University or college and eight to ten years related experience and/or training. CPA a plus.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office. Advanced Excel user, with a working knowledge of Access.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret common accounting journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
• Ability to write in a manner that conforms to prescribed style and format.
• Ability to effectively present information to associates, top management, and public groups.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Must possess valid Certified Public Accountant license or have eight to ten years of equivalent experience. Must possess a valid state driver's license.
• Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

The associate is occasionally required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel a computer keyboard or calculator. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• 7+ years hands-on accounting experience in a multi-location manufacturing, distribution or retail environment handling general ledger and inventory responsibilities.
• Strong managerial and organization skills with a focus on day-to-day operations using Enterprise Accounting Systems, Oracle, Hyperion, Excel and Access.
• Self Confident and able to provide constructive feedback/opinions on all business matters
• Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.
• Must schedule work hours on site to meet requirements and management expectations.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
