Description The Medical Administrative Coordinator, under general supervision, provides administrative support to Otolaryngology physicians in a high volume ambulatory setting, functioning as the primary interface between the patient, provider and services team. A major responsibility is the smooth running of all non-clinical work for physician/patient encounters. Emphasis is placed on the ability to organize priorities, complete tasks, manage confidential patient information, schedule patient appointments, surgery, and diagnostic testing, and initiate the approval process for referrals and authorizations as needed. Performs all other related tasks required to facilitate the efficient flow of patients through the practice or ancillary services areas.

Requirements Associates degree in medical secretarial science or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Preferred 3 years of experience in a medical secretarial position within a busy medical surgical service/practice/department, or equivalent experience helpful.

Must possess the ability to communicate and interact effectively with patients, physicians, visitors, and all others in the course of performing essential functions.
Must be competent in responding to the age and developmental levels of patients being served (child, adolescent, young adult, adult, geriatric) as well as the sensory deprived and disabled.

Excellent verbal communications required for the telephone, interaction with patients and others, and strong organizational skills a must. Computer skills required to perform scheduling, data base management and medical terminology helpful.
